Does it run on older phones?
The Stopwatch has been optimized to run on all Blackberry models running OS V4.5.0 or newer. You can check the cersion of your software by selecting Options (the icon with the wrench) and then About.
Does it need a physical keypad?
The Stopwatch works on Touch devices (Storm, Torch), SureType devices (Pearl, Flip), as well as devices with a Qwerty keypad. On all devices, the big phone Sent/End keys are used for the main Start/Stop functions. Keypad devices have other keypad shortcuts as well.
How can I save my results?
All timing results are save permanently in the device's memory. You can restart device and even pull the battery if you like. Your results are safe. You need to select the Clear Results funciton to erase them.
How many results can I store?
The amount of data you can save is only limited by the amount of memory in your device. The short answer is - more than you will probably ever need. To keep things managable, we recommend you periodically save any history you want to keep and clear the log.
How do I get my results off of the device?
You can use the Send Results function and email the Log to yourself or others. You can also save them to a file on the SD Card if your Blackberry has one - most do. When you plug your Blackberry into your PC, you will see a new drive for the SD Card and your results are in the /stopwatch folder.
What are the Gap and Lead buttons for?
Gap (a.k.a. Lap Split) measures the time from pressing the Lap button until you press the Gap button. This is useful for measuring the interval between competitors.
Lead is sort of the opposite. You press Lead when the leader goes by. Then when you press Lap, it will tell you the interval to the leader.
Can I make notes on my times?
In addition to naming your event, you can also specify the circuit length (miles or km). You can also record a brief note (e.g. weather or conditions) and it will be recorded in your results.
Is there online help?
Each funciton of the stopwatch includes a page of online help to remind you of the keypad shortcuts and other usability advice.
How loud is the beep?
The beep sound is about as loud as a ringtone at the loudest level. The volume is adjustable as well. if you are working in a very loud or very quiet environment, you can also use your handsfree earbud or headphones.
